Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Sharlene from Real Life Reading that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.
Happy Wednesday! What did you get from your library this week?
Here’s my latest library loot:
The Happy Couple – Naoise Dolan
Randomly picked this up from the new arrivals shelves at the library. It’s about a couple that’s to be married in a year’s time.
Eagle Drums – Nasugraq Rainey Hopson (audiobook)
This is a middle grade debut about the origin story of the Iñupiaq Messenger Feast, a Native Alaskan tradition.
Mrs Mohr Goes Missing – Maryla Szymiczkowa
Set in Cracow, Poland, in 1893. Stars a socialite who decides to play detective. I borrowed this but then realised it’s not written by a woman, instead that’s a pseudonym, and it’s two male writers. Does that bother me? Yes, I admit, a little bit. I will give it a go anyway and see how it is.
His Only Wife – Peace Adzo Medie
I was looking for a book set in Ghana, and this is a story about an arranged marriage.

I have heard good things about Mrs Mohr Goes Missing and it’s always exciting to have more mysteries available in translation.

I liked Naoirse Dolan’s first book, which was set in Hong Kong, but I found the Happy Couple very flat in comparison.
